Overview: 

The Department currently maintains a registry of 12,333 cooperative societies. Of these, 7,734 societies are confirmed as functional, actively contributing to the state's economic framework.

Status of State-Level Cooperative Federations

1. Statefed Assam In accordance with administrative restructuring, Statefed Assam is currently under liquidation proceedings.

Liquidator: Sri Sanjib Kumar Baruah, Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies (Head Office, Assam).

2. HOUSEFED (Assam State Cooperative Housing Federation Ltd.) HOUSEFED remains fully operational as the apex institution for housing in the cooperative sector.

Current Activity: It continues to execute construction and infrastructure projects across the state, including affordable housing schemes and office accommodations for government departments.

Affiliation: It functions under the administrative control of the Cooperation Department and is affiliated with the National Cooperative Housing Federation of India.

3. ASWC (Assam State Warehousing Corporation) ASWC is an active state public sector undertaking focused on logistics and storage solutions.

Current Activity: The corporation is actively upgrading its infrastructure, with recent renovation and capacity-building projects awarded in 2024 for facilities in Amingaon, Bongaigaon, and other districts.

Management: It operates under a dedicated Board of Directors and Managing Director to support agricultural storage needs.
